ABOUT US

Churchill Pre-School is a busy and popular community group in North Somerset that provides pre-school education for children prior to them starting at primary school.

We are a non-profit making organisation and a registered charity run by an elected voluntary committee of, in the main, parents and carers of the children currently attending pre-school. Our aims underpin our philosophy of providing a service run by the community for the community

Located within the Churchill Memorial Hall, we have our own outdoor play area and operate full day care 9.00am until 3.00pm Monday to Friday, linking the morning (9.00 am until 12:00 pm) and afternoon sessions (12:00 pm until 3:00 pm) with an optional lunch club (12:00 pm to 1.30pm) to extend the morning session.  We also offer Breakfast club from 8am for an additional £10.00, and an early drop off at 8.45 for an additional £2.50 or late pick up at 3.15 for an addtional £2.50.

Children are offered 15 to 30 government Early Education funded hours depending on eligibility, which can be spread out across the week enabling flexibility. Children are entitled to this from the term after their third birthday.

We also now offer (from April 2024) eligible working parents of 2 year olds 15 hours funded Early Education. Eligible families can claim this from the term after their child's second birthday.

We are registered to take 26 children per session.  For non-funded children, the cost is £21.00 (3yrs +) and £23.00 (2yrs +) per session or £42.00 and £46.00 respectively for a full day (two sessions). The lunch club is an additional £12.50 when extending a morning only session. There is also an additional £1.00 per session sustainability charge. This covers costs of consumables including all snacks, sun cream, and additional services such as the cost of trips, weekly outdoor Friday, Tapestry and any extracurricular activities.

While this charge is voluntary it is critical for covering costs that are not covered by the funded rates we receive. Failure to pay could have a significant impact on the preschools ongoing viability.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which continues into the reception year of primary education and have strong connections with the local primary schools to help provide a good transition for children entering their reception class.

We operate a high staff to child ratio to provide quality care and all our staff are paediatric first aid trained, with a majority of staff having received safeguarding training.

Through monitoring and evaluation, the Pre-School constantly reviews the quality and range of services available to families and staff. We have had a good Ofsted inspection report and are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance who provide advice and guidance on all aspects of the Pre-School. We have also achieved the Bristol Standard Quality Assurance Standard which is a self evaluation scheme awarded for the quality provision of Pre-School education.
